Each time the “World-wide Uchinanchu Festival is held in Okinawa, a large number of Uchinanchu came to Okinawa from all over the world to participate in the grand festival. This festival not only contributes greatly to promote international interchange and friendship but also aids development of Okinawa. The event was highly evaluated as an unique project throughout Japan.
We, those who are actively taking part in international interchange activities, keenly felt it necessary to establish a “World Uchinanchu Center” as a “Mûtuyâ-the hub-house to disseminate “Okinawan -Chimu gukuru -the tender spirit of Uchinanchu” and to propagate Okinawa to the outer world. Currently, we are preparing to submit the request to the Okinawa Prefecture for early realization of the center.
It is our sincere wish and request that you and/your organization will join us with a strong voice of support for early establishment of the proposed center upon careful contemplation of the aim and function of the center.
